When Is the Best Time To Buy a Rental Property in San Antonio?

Smart investors find the best deals when the market cools down.

When is the best time to buy a rental property in San Antonio? Rental properties are great investments, so really, the best time to buy is whenever you’ve got the money set aside. That said, I wouldn’t recommend putting all your money into real estate. It’s still smart to keep things balanced with some in stocks, some in bonds, and when you’ve set aside funds for real estate, that’s the perfect time to go for a rental property.

If we want to go a little deeper, there are definitely some strategic times to buy. I’m sharing them with you.

1. Buy when others aren’t buying. I follow the Warren Buffett way of thinking: buy when others aren’t buying, and don’t buy when everyone else is rushing in. That mindset has worked well for me and helped me spot great opportunities when the market feels quiet.

2. High inventory periods. When there’s a lot of inventory on the market, the odds shift in your favor as a buyer. Right now, with interest rates being high, it’s actually a great time to buy, especially if you can pay in cash. Once those rates drop, buyers are going to flood the market again, and your chances of getting a solid deal could shrink fast.

3. Consider seasonal trends. I tend to buy more during the winter. For some reason, I noticed that sellers seem more motivated during that time of year, so that’s usually when I’m able to land the best deals.

At the end of the day, if you can afford it and the numbers make sense for you, then it’s a good time to buy and hold real estate, especially here in San Antonio.
